Boy is Maya growing! She had her second visit to the Dr. yesterday and she is growing like a champ. Now up to 8 lbs 14 oz and 20 5/8 inches. (That's a gain of 1 lb 7 oz and 1 1/8 inches since we brought her home on 3/13) It was also a big day because the rest of her umbilical cord stump fell off.
She's doing great otherwise. Last night she slept for 5 hours straight. (Both mommy and daddy were thrilled and have their fingers crossed that she will continue this trend)
More pictures to come and maybe a video or two. (Daddy is still figuring out the video feature on his new Nikon D-SLR)

First Family Photo Shoot
Today we had our first family photo shoot. Chalk this up to a 'lesson learned'... Two week olds do not seem to mind their picture taken every now and then. However, they HATE having about 3,000,000 pictures (with flash) taken while: a) naked b) in a diaper only c) being handled by some strange person trying to get a two week old into a certain pose.
Let's just say, it was interesting. The pictures did turn out great and will be posted as soon as we get them back.
Maya is fine now, but she was pissed at us for a while after we left. In fact, she smiled more and more the further we got from the photo store. Good times....

Week #2
It's hard to believe that it has been two weeks since little Maya arrived. A lot has changed and in some ways nothing has changed.
The midnight/early morning feedings/changings are new. So far she is on about a 2-3 hour feeding schedule. (Hopefully this will get longer as she gets older) We totally should have purchased stock in Pampers. Luckily, we will be making the switch to cloth diapers very soon.
It's also fun watching Maya grow. She's already outgrown the Newborn clothes that we have. Which means it's on to the 0-3 month clothing we have in her room. (and those of you who know me well will not be surprised that I have each drawer organized by size..)
Liz and I still get our alone time together when Maya sleeps. Which is nice. So, in that respect, things have not changed.
All in all, it's very exciting to have this little person in our lives. I hope that I can be a good dad for her and will try to teach her everything I can. I can't wait to get her her first soccer ball and teach her some Coerver moves!
Two weeks down, many memories made, lots more to come, I am sure.
After many months and many hours of labor...
